主要研究方向为植物分子生物学。从事植物信号转导分子机理方面的研究,侧重植物细胞钙信号转导、植物逆境胁迫下钙调素的调控作用等,并在植物科学领域取得过突破性进展。在生命科学领域高级学术期刊上发表论文20余篇,其中《Nature》2篇,并在Journal of Biological Chemistry和Plant Molecular Biology等多种杂志上发表论文多篇。多次获得美国资助项目。2013年浙江省高等学校“钱江学者”(特聘教授),2011年获得国家自然科学基金联合基金项目。

在分析解剖钙调蛋白介导的钙信号解读方面,取得过突破性的进展。在植物生物技术、生物化学、分子生物学方面有丰富的研究经验,擅长各种研究蛋白相互作用的技术,包括在酵母、植物细胞中研究蛋白质相互作用的技术,以及各类蛋白共沉降技术。熟练掌握了各类常规的细胞学、遗传学分析技术。了解并熟练掌握现代新兴的高通量基因组、蛋白组、突变体的遗传筛选等技术。
